Abstract
Wideband code-division multiaccess (WCDMA) downlink transmission is prone to self interference caused by the loss of orthogonality between the spreading codes due to multipath fading. The degree of loss of orthogonality in downlink WCDMA is usually measured in terms of the orthogonality factor (OF) which is directly related to the level of intra-cell interference. This paper presents accurate theoretical analysis of the OF over generalized fading channels. New exact expressions of the average OF are derived for full and partial RAKE receivers over arbitrarily correlated multipath fading channels.
