Abstract
In this paper, an attempt has been made to design optimally and evaluate the theoretical performance of a single solar cell (SSC) of glass-glass type photovoltaic (PV) Panel. In a modification, an in-built heat extraction mechanism has been made in the setup of solar cell in which the bottom side glass cover is cut up to certain depth to fill the metal more conductive than glass in such a manner that metal is just under the solar cell. Similar to network of solar cells, a network of metal is also made to carry the heat extracted from solar cell to the metal deposition and then to ambient. Thermal modeling based on energy balance of each component and analytical expressions of different parameters of a single solar cell (SSC) of glass-glass type PV panel have been derived. It is observed that the suggested process is responsible for minor increment in electrical efficiency in a SSC of glass-glass type PV panel as compared with a present design of solar cell of glass-glass type available in the market, during the whole day performance of solar cell.
