Abstract

Theoretical calculations of a singly resonant optical parametric oscillator (SRO) with intracavity sum-frequency generation (SFG) (IC-SFG-SRO) are presented to obtain tunable ultraviolet laser radiation at 323 nm. Under the plane-wave approximation, simple models considering different spatial orderings of SRO and SFG processes are set up. The calculations are in good agreement with the experimental results, and some important simulation parameters are also obtained. According to these parameters, the output characteristics of the 532 nm green laser pumped SRO with an intracavity SFG between the pump and the resonant signal near 822 nm and the 1064 nm infrared laser pumped SRO with an intracavity SFG between the pump and the resonant signal near 1644 nm are predicted and optimized. The models and simulation parameters provide guidelines for optimizing the continuous-wave IC-SFG-SRO.
