Abstract
Different protective layer materials used in plasma display panels (PDPs) have been explored. A high secondary electron emission yield is due to a low value of the combination of band gap and electron affinity. The materials such as MgO-Cs <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</sub> O and MgO-CsI will be good candidates for protective layers.
