Abstract

During the Covid-19 global pandemic, Faculdade Unida de Vitoria (like many higher education institutions) turned to online teaching as a component part of its response to the exceptional circumstances. This included Unida’s pioneering program, ‘Theology in English’. Normally offered on-campus to students and the wider public in the greater Vitoria metropolitan area, an online version of the course enabled Unida to reach new audiences. People participated from 16 different states in Brazil, and there were participants from the USA, UK, Germany and Mozambique. A professor at Unida, and a graduate student from Princeton Theological Seminary co-led the course. It was originally planned as a weekly on-campus class. The global pandemic forced the course to be co-led from Vitoria, Brazil and Chicago, USA. This is an evaluation of the development of ‘Theology in English’ in light of Covid-19.
