Le second volume de l'ouvrage de Tom Wright intitule Christian Origins and the Question of God s'est fait attendre pendant longtemps. En 1996, la publication de Jesus and the Victory of God suscite de nombreuses reactions. Le projet de Wright laisse son auteur ouvert aux critiques des specialistes d'autres disciplines comme la philosophie ou la theologie. Comme Wright, l'A. pense que la figure de Jesus depasse l'interet strictement historique. Wright pense que le christianisme prendrait secousse benefique s'il s'affirmait comme reellement christocentrique
