Abstract

Summary Study of the original material of ocular nematodes from man and the dog in China, as well as material recently secured from a dog and a rabbit in Peking, demonstrates the corectness of Leiper's view that the human and dog specimens from China belong to the species Thelazia callip˦da, and provides evidence that the rabbit is another host of this species of Thelazia. The presence of male worms in the human and in all of the dog material has made it possible to describe this sex in T. callip˦da for the first time. The number of postcloacal papillae in the male worm of this species in smaller than that designated in the original description of the genus Thelizia and, consequently, a slight emendation of the generic concept is required. The record of T. rhodesii from cattle in China is new.
