Abstract

Extensive archival and new IUE data obtained during the last (19th) year episode of the O VI sequence planetary nebula NGC 5315 and its central star have been analyzed. A large number of high-excitation emission lines have been identified, and their fluxes were determined. These yield electron densities from C III], Si III], and N III], and terminal wind velocities from C IV λ1549 low- and high-dispersion spectra. The values are quite high, in the range of log Ne = 4.9 ± 0.1 cm-3 from C III] and Si III] diagnostics, and terminal wind velocities are in the range of -3600 ± 100 km s-1.
