Abstract

This paper outlines the connections between the Lehrstucktheorie of Brecht, the pedagogy of Paolo Freire, and the theatrical practice and theory of Augusto Boal. It relates these areas to the current situation in higher education in England in general, and to a drama course at the New University of the West of England in particular.
