Abstract

The study of indigenous African Community Drama can be argued to have gone through three predominant phases of theatre scholarship namely: Denial, Validation and Descriptive Analysis. In this essay I want to go beyond these primary forms of academic discourse and theorize the artform from a semiotic perspective.
