Abstract

Small sites on the peripheries of regions can be informative about political and economic organization. Here, evidence is presented from two small sites of the Suse I period of the late 5th millennium BC located in the front ranges of the central Zagros Mountains. This evidence suggests that these contemporary sites represent different political and economic strategies in Susian frontier zone.
