Abstract

The Yukawa model is used for a detailed comparison at the two-loop level between 't Hooft-Veltman's treatment of γ 5 and anticommuting γ 5 with γ 1,…, γ d . As expected on general grounds both methods turn out to be equivalent in this model. The equivalence arises for the renormalized Green functions straightforwardly but in a more intricate way for the RG functions, as beginning with two loops, the 't Hooft-Veltman prescription demands the introduction of ( d−4)-dimensional counterterms which lead to additional terms in the RG equation.
