The X-ray crystal structure, 13C and 15N NMR spectra of (η 5-C 5H 5)Fe(CO) 2 (η 1-N-phthalimidato)

Abstract

The X-ray crystal structure of (η 5-C 5H 5)Fe(CO) 2 (η 1-N-phthalimidato) has been determined, confirming the coordination of the phthalimidato ligand through nitrogen. The complex containing the 15N)-phthalimidato ligand has been synthesized and its 13C and 15N NMR spectra measured. A comparison of the spectral data obtained for this complex with those measured for ( 15N)-phthalimide and its potassium salt suggests considerable polar character of the ironnitrogen bond.
