Abstract

This article reviews international and national intercomparisons of force standard machines, covering means and procedures, results, the evaluation of a force standard machine, and how to improve the accuracy of such machines. It concludes with comments on desirable future work, both on increasing the international links to countries not yet participating in intercomparisons, and on improving the accuracy of primary force standard machines and disseminating secondary standards.
