Abstract

Eleven of us sat around the table, sharing a lunch of salads and sandwiches. For the first time ever, editors from around the world were getting together to share experiences related to the responsibilities of publishing creditable literature for the occupational therapy profession. Present at this inaugural lunchtime meeting were editors from the following journals: the Scandinavian Journal of Occupational Therapy (Editor Inga-Britt Branholm organized the meeting); Work: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment & Rehabilitation; Occupational Therapy International; the Israeli Journal of Occupational Therapy; New Zealand Journal of Occupational Therapy; Australian Occupational Therapy Journal; WFOT Bulletin; OTJR: Occupation, Participation & Health; Physical & Occupational Therapy in Pediatrics; the Journal of Occupational Science; and the American Journal of Occupational Therapy (AJOT). We talked about electronic submission and reviews of manuscripts, online publishing, being included in databases, the sharing of journals among editors, and publication of critical appraisals. We ended with an agreement to establish a listserve of all editors of occupational therapy journals so that we can continue to be in contact, get to know each other better, and readily communicate about ideas and concerns related to editing journals.
