Abstract

The main goal of this paper is to evidence the narrow relationships between the sculpture of the Master of the tympanum of Cabestany and the Roman sarcophagi from the 3rd and 4th centuries. In this way, it is possible to provide evidence of the importance of the Roman funerary sculpture in the training of some Romanesque sculpture workshops of the second half of 12th century.
