Abstract

The category of linguistic negation occupies a special place among the numerous language catego￾ries. Expressing the definite category of the logic completely the investigation of the mutual relation￾ship of the mentality and the objective reality with the language, investigating the language tools in the structural-semantic and communicative-pragmatic plan and also requires the comparative study on the basis of material of the different systematic languages and that is why this problem is one of the impor￾tant issues of linguistics. Though the category of negation has been extensively studied in linguistics, this problem is still urgent today according to the modern linguistic theories. Therefore, the comparative study of negation on the basis of materials of the different systematic languages is very important. The investigation of the category of negation is an actual problem of modern linguistics. The main function of this category is to increase the effectiveness of the speech communication. The main problem of the category of negation is the correct usage of forms of this category. The English language learners often meet this problem, because the main thing is to find correctly negative forms in the study texts. The lan￾guage learners need also to be able to formulate sentences in the category of negation and at the same time take into consideration the grammatical and lexical features of the studied language, i.e. the English language. The pragmatic factor is also investigated in this process. The elements of negation in the negation category are realized within the complex semantic and functional-pragmatic conditions. It is necessary to express fully the category of logic that corresponds to it and to investigate the structural-semantic and communicative-pragmatic means of language. In the article it will be said about the working principles of the category of negation of the English language and the negation category in Azerbaijani and English will be shown comparatively.
