Abstract

An x-ray diffraction investigation established that the surface layer of porous parts undergoes work hardening during sizing. It is shown that, from the point of view of surface quality, the combined method of sizing has the advantage over the separate method that the densification and hardening of the outer and inner surfaces of bushings are not equal. The outer surface is hardened to a greater extent than the inner one.
