Abstract

ABSTRACT: This article documents the development and features of a print bilingual dictionary of Witsuwit'en, an Indigenous language of North America (Dene family), with accompanying website. Constructing lexical entries for verbs in Dene languages is especially challenging. This article discusses the tension between constructing linguistically adequate entries for Witsuwit'en verbs while at the same time making the dictionary usable for the increasing numbers of non-native speakers. The various parts of the dictionary were compiled using "legacy" software, Lexware.
