Abstract
The dominant easterly and the westerly wind directions observed in the dune section exposed south of Essaouiria, Morocco, are interpreted as reflecting formation during a time characterized by a greater north-south seasonal displacement of the Azores High. It is further suggested that this is more characteristic of a cold rather than a warm period in the Early Pleistocene.
