Abstract

The most important method for fitting pseudopotential parameters to experimental information is comparison of the different band gaps with a complete analysis of the optical spectra. However, this method seems to be insufficient, since the electronic pseudocharge densities of HgTe and HgSe show some discrepancies from reality even if the electronic band structure does agree with experiment.
