Summary

Introduction

The Churra breed is the most important nucleus of milk-producing sheep in Spain. Feeding systems used are variable in productive levels and available pastureland. Churra sheep graze pasture in many sheep-farming systems. In these circumstances, a cereal-based supplement is usually provided. Nutrient requirements of ewes in late pregnancy have been presented (ARC, 1980; NRC, 1985; I N R A , 1988) and have been described for Churra ewes (Guada and Ovejero, 1977; Castrillo and Guada, 1979).
