Abstract

The use of smoke-like tracers to study the laminar separation bubble and several wake flows is discussed. The unobtrusive nature of this technique is an advantage for the study of laminar steady or laminar periodic flows. The recent development of scanning laser-light sheet, combined with high-speed video and image processing techniques, allow for the study of three-dimensional turbulent separated and wake flows.
