Abstract

The collapse of communism in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union has fatally discredited the idea of totalist authoritarianism (conceived as authoritarian politics and political control over the economy and society) and boosted the idea of liberal democracy (conceived as democratic politics and free-market economics). Francis Fukuyama went even further, arguing that liberal democracy may constitute the end-point of mankind’s ideological evolution and the final form of human government, and as such constitute the end of history.1KeywordsMarket CapitalismEconomic FreedomLiberal DemocracyEconomic TransformationEconomic LiberalismThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
