Abstract

(Am J Obstet Gynecol. 2016;215(6):736.e1–736.e4) This American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Viewpoint article makes the case for a “virtual” obstetrical intensive care unit to provide optimal care for critically ill pregnant patients while also optimizing resource allocation. The authors note that there is limited research to guide recommendations for the optimal setting for delivery of care to critically ill pregnant women, and summarize the current state of the field of managing the critically ill pregnant woman.
