The Virtual Machine (VM) as a System Control Program for OS/VS1 and Adaptation of Conversational Monitor System (CMS) in The Average Computer Centre

Abstract

In this paper the authors have tried to answer a few questions which followed the exploitation of the VM/370 system with CMS's and consequences of it in the Computer Centre of Polish Ministry of Machine Industry /CО МРМ/. In one of the chapters is described in short form CO MPM computer installation onto which the VM/370 system and operating system Os/VS executes. In a separate chapter are described a few CMS features which are very good programer tool as well for application programmers as for system ones. This paper has given too a general description of terminal network /above 100 terminals/ and of some teleprocessing systems run in mentioned above Computer Centre. In conclusion on the base of CO MPM experiences it has shown the advantages and disadvantages of the VM/370 system with CMS's work, which affected the implementation of these systems in the IBM 370/145 computer.
