Abstract

A virtual drum kit simulator is presented in the paper. The simulator is designed as an embedded system connecting processors, FPGA device and devices enable signal conversion and amplification. A logic device (FPGA) is a central processing unit of a base station. Four manipulators were also designed. Manipulators are equipped with microcontroller and accelerometers. Manipulators communicate with base station by means of radio transmitter. The wirelessly transmitted signals are decoded and the appropriate sound and animation is played. Sounds are stored in the boards RAM memory and are fed into digital to analog module via SPI interface. Visualization on VGA monitor shows in real-time which drum or cymbal was hit.
