Abstract

This paper deals primarily with the vibrational bands of crystalline water molecules in Rochelle Salt. The four bands observed in the region 3200-3600 cm-1 are attributed respectively to the four nonequivalent water molecules contained in the Rochelle Salt molecule, one water molecule giving rise to one band, and it is shown that the so-called short hydrogen band does not exist in Rochelle Salt.
