Abstract
SummaryPerfusion studies conducted on fresh isolated segments of the human umbilical cord show that the umbilical vessels display a remarkable intrinsic property of vasomotor response to changes in external thermal environment.The umbilical artery is much more responsive than the umbilical vein; both vessels consistently exhibit vasoconstriction on cooling and vasodilatation on re‐warming.
