Abstract

Industrial use of the serine proteases Subtilisin Carlsberg and trypsin is well established and important to the industry. A large number of other serine proteases from animal and microbial sources are known but their industrial use was insignificant, until recently a new group of highly alkaline serine proteases from alkolophilic Bacillus species were introduced.
