Abstract
The purpose of this symposium is to bring together scholars interested in how middle- and lower-level managers create and capture value. In particular, our symposium includes a set of papers that aim to unpack the broader question “Do managers matter?x, articulating the different types of impact that those managers can have, and exploring to whom differences in managerial human capital eventually matter. The papers provide a variety of perspectives, theoretical frameworks and methodologies, examining managerial human capital at multiple levels of analysis and in different empirical contexts, and providing multiple insights on the role that managers play in shaping value creation and value capture.
