Abstract
In his column, AWWA Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr discusses the benefits that members receive from joining the American Water Works Association (AWWA). He discusses how changes in our society are impacting volunteerism, and how the scarcity of “free time” is influencing people's choices on how to spend it. He points out that when average savings were calculated for members versus nonmembers, the cold cash value to an individual or organization member was at least 2.5 times the dues rate. He also lists the numerous intangible benefits that AWWA offers such as networking, peer interactions, and access to AWWA's vast information resources.
