Abstract

Mairi Brackenridge discusses Scotland's Criminal Justice Social Work Services in the context of recent developments in England and Wales. She opposes the notion of 'punishment' as a defining feature of Probation work and concludes that the notion of a service located in the community should continue to have primacy in any system.
