Abstract

A numerical study is made of the recent formulation of deuteron stripping by Butler et al. which is based on the use of the sudden approximation. Fits to experiment are generally very poor and the deduced spectroscopic factor shows a marked dependence on the deuteron energy. Some improvement is noted for deuterons in the 150 MeV region where the sudden approximation is expected to show more validity.
