Abstract

The Advanced Placement (AP) courses and examinations of the College Board are constructed upon the premise that advanced knowledge acquired in high school merits recognition and credit in college. This means that a high school teacher with a fouror five-year program in German can offer students college-level instruction and direct them to an examination which, if taken successfully, results in college placement and credit.
