Abstract

Based on an asymptotic solution of the two-dimensional convection-diffusion equation, Galappatti (1983) developed a depth-integrated model for suspended sediment transport in open channels. The validity of this model is studied here theoretically as well as experimentally after a brief description of the model. The analysis will be restricted to the case of steady uniform flow but the conclusions are also given concerning more general cases.
