Abstract
The absorption spectrum of the pink afterglow of molecular nitrogen in the vacuum ultraviolet has been analyzed at high resolution. The spectrum exhibits hot bands involving vibrational levels of the electronic ground state as high asv" = 19. Experimentally determined term values are derived forv" = 0–19, of whichv" = 16–19 were before now poorly known.
