Abstract

This research aims to build the ability to utilize student social media in order to improve the comprehension and mastery of learning material widely and deeply that can improve student achievement, while supporting government programs to fill social media with optimism. This study aims to explore the practice of using social media for accounting learning and to reveal the application of the use of social media in learning accounting information systems in the accounting education program of Bina Nusantara University. The use of social media in learning accounting information systems to improve student achievement is a movement to make use of social media in support of government programs in Law No. 14 of 2005 on Teachers and Lecturers explained that lecturers are expected to utilize information technology to communicate and develop themselves in supporting the learning process. The target is every student is able and willing to use social media in the learning process so that it can improve student achievement. This research is a descriptive quantitative and qualitative research. The research respondents were students of the accounting study program in the accounting information system course of the Faculty of Economics and Communication, Universitas Bina Nusantara. The data collection techniques used were interviews / interviews and observation. The results showed that the use of social media can improve the quality of learning and learning outcomes. the results showed that the use of social media can be an effective support in the lecture process because learning activities can be done anytime and anywhere. Social media can overcome the problem of limited space and time in the classroom. Students and lecturers can continue lecture interactions online to discuss issues related to lecture material so that it makes it easier for them to understand the material through the intensity of communication and interactions that are conducted outside of class hours.
