Abstract

AbstractThis chapter first describes the global high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) industry and the recent developments in HFCS production in the USA, Mexico, and other countries. It then discusses the trade controversy that has developed between the USA and Mexico over increased HFCS imports into Mexico from the USA. The antidumping duties imposed by Mexico on US HFCS imports since January 1998 were declared illegal by a NAFTA Panel on 15 April 2002.
