Abstract

Science laboratory activities have got an important position in science teaching. The main purpose of laboratory experiments in the science teachers train- ing program is to acquire some laboratory knowledge and skills for the prospective teachers. But it is known that science students don’t benefit from laboratory always adequately. Increasing the efficiency of laboratory activities is tried different labora- tory strategies that one of them is prediction-observation-explanation (POE) strategy. The purpose of this study is to design science laboratory experiments based on the prediction- observation- explanation (POE) strategy and to evaluate qualitativly the result of one experiment performed in the laboratory. The data were collected docu- ment analysis, interview and observation tecniques. One experiment called “the de- termining of the molecular-weight through depression-of-the-freezing-point” was performed in the laboratory and the results of application were given detailed. The findings showed that students pleased with the POE strategy in science laboratory.
