Abstract
Abstract This . paper discusses the methods available for locating watermarks in Old Series maps. The watermarks found in over 2000 maps and their contribution to dating are analysed. The main conclusion is that the watermarks enable a particular sheet to be dated within a few years, especially in the period 1823-36.
