Abstract
To estimate the intensity of secondary circulation flow, the use of pressure on the side wall of an agitated vessel was proposed. The physical significance of the wall pressure and a quantitative relation between the pressure distribution and the axial flow velocity profile near the side wall were deduced and confirmed experimentally. Similarity of the secondary flow field and similarity parameters which have previously been presented by the author were also confirmed by the wall pressure measurements, not only for radial but also for axial discharge types of impellers.
