Abstract
EDITOR'S NOTE:-This paper was read at the Anglo-American Music Conference in Lausanne, August, I929. Dr. Whittaker has lectured in America, particularly at Cornell University; he is known thruout the British Empire as one of the most constructive adjudicators of competition festivals; in England and on the Continent he is recognized as one of the leaders in the current school of English composers, as a teacher of great power, and as an outstanding figure among conductors.-P.
