Abstract

Intramedullary nailing of tibial fractures is normally performed using a traction table[1]. A number of different methods of applying traction have been described, the commonest being the use of a Steinmann pin through the os calcis[2]. Other techniques include the use of pinless os calcis traction[3]and non-invasive methods such as strapping the foot to a base plate[4].
