Abstract

Professionals, para-professionals, students, and volunteers are being called upon to implement specialized educational programs with autistic and other severely developmentally disabled children. The present study assessed the effects of self-monitoring by undergraduate tutors on the frequency of reinforcement delivered to seven autistic children. In all cases, the frequency of reinforcement increased during self-monitoring. In addition, each child demonstrated greater play behavior during the intervention phase.
