Abstract

Reversal (ABAB) designs are widely used in behavioral psychology, education, and mental health research. This paper examines the applicability of this design to organizational behavior research. A discussion of the general advantages and disadvantages precedes the report of seven case studies that attempted a reversal design in a complex organizational setting. Four reversals took place and three did not. The analysis of these case studies have implications for the future use of reversal designs in organizational behavior research.
