Abstract

In the article there is an analyzes of the current state of positive psychology, as well as the possibility of applying its regularities in the field of foreign language learning. Positive psychology researches in the field of applied linguistics and teaching a foreign language, especially English, have intensified over the last few years. Key directions of positive psychology researches in the field of foreign language acquisition are defined: from negative to positive emotions, from deficiencies to strengths, from spontaneous activity to activity in a state of flow, from primitive to constructive positive psychology models. Positive emotions, as an enjoyment of their future achievements, in the field of a foreign language acquisition play the role of motivators. Another principle of successful of a foreign language acquisition is the cultivation of a model of strong character, which is determined by 6 broad virtues and 24 underlying character strengths. Research in this area is aimed to identify opportunities to use strengths of character to overcome anxiety as one of the significant negative factors affecting foreign language acquisition. Much attention is paid to the research of such a phenomenon in learning, as a state of flow that is the person feeling of extreme joy, freedom, pleasure, perfection when there is a fully immersion in their activities. An important prerequisite for successful a foreign language acquisition is personalized learning, which requires knowing the strong character traits of each pupil and the ways in which a particular pupil applies their strengths to his or her learning.
