Abstract

In this paper, the author presents a rationale and offers suggestions forwhy personification and apostrophe, as main figures of speech, could beused in the EFL classroom as well as how teachers and/or teachers intraining might use them to enhance understanding and appreciatingEnglish poetry, in other words, to facilitate learning. First the researcherdefines the two figures, giving examples, and then the function of bothfigures would be stated. The author makes a survey of the methods ofteaching personification and apostrophe in English poetry. A list ofaccessible personification and apostrophe resources is shared at the end.
