Abstract

In this research, we study the use of multiprocessor systems for the numerical solution of a problem of geophysics, namely the determination of weak scattering objects in complex geological media through the solution of acoustic tasks in direct and inverse time. We use an explicit finite-difference scheme for the numerical solution of the problem. The scheme is based on shifted grids and fits well with multiprocessor systems. In addition, we address the solution of the problem for multiple sources, a situation that frequently arises in geophysics. This paper proposes an optimal approach to the implementation of computations on a computational cluster using the MPI and OpenMP libraries.
