Abstract

The article presents the results of the use of leukocyte-rich platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) in the middle ear surgery. L-PRF is a platelet concentrate on the matrix of fibrin prepared of the patient’s blood by centrifugation. We have studied two groups of patients. Group 1 included 50 patients at the age of 19 to 67 years, all the patients had undergone tympanoplasty. Group 2 consisted of 23 patients at age of 22 to 62 years, all after stapedoplasty. L-PRF was used for reinforcement of neotympanic membrane during tympanoplasty and for closure of diastase between the stem of prosthesis and vestibular window during stapedoplasty. L-PRF was obtained using a standard method. We have revealed a positive relation between the L-PRF application and the surgery outcome. The use of this material is both safe for the patient and cost-effective. The further study in this field is necessary for finding L-PRF effect and its implementation the wide application in clinical practice.
